What counts is the content of triglyceride in the salmon oil. Approximately 35 % of the polyunsaturated fatty acids is produced in metabolic processes from the remaining fatty acids contained in the glycerine. The salmon oil also contains remains of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA (18 %) and DHA (12 %). The eicosapentaenoic acid and docosaheexaenoic acid are essential constituents of the cell membrane. EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart functions.
